Forma Viva: Where Stone Whispers Stories of the Adriatic Guide
Escape the ordinary and immerse yourself in the captivating world of Forma Viva, an open-air sculpture park nestled along the stunning Slovenian coast in Portorož. This unique attraction offers a harmonious blend of art and nature, inviting you to wander amongst monumental stone sculptures created by renowned artists from around the globe. Prepare to be inspired as you explore this artistic haven, where the rugged beauty of the landscape complements the powerful expressions carved into stone. Forma Viva's history dates back to 1961, born from the vision of Slovenian sculptor Janez Lenassi. He sought to create a space where artists could work directly with the local Istrian stone, transforming it into powerful statements that reflected the region's history, culture, and natural beauty. Over the decades, the park has grown to include over 120 sculptures, each a testament to the enduring power of artistic expression. The sculptures are not just objects to be observed; they are integral parts of the landscape, interacting with the light, the sea breeze, and the surrounding vegetation. A visit to Forma Viva is an invitation to engage with art in a truly immersive way. Stroll along the winding paths, discover hidden sculptures tucked amongst the trees, and marvel at the sheer scale and artistry of each piece. The park is open year-round, offering a different perspective with each season. While there isn't a specific culinary tradition directly linked to Forma Viva, Portorož itself boasts a vibrant seafood scene. After your artistic exploration, indulge in fresh Adriatic delicacies at one of the many restaurants overlooking the sea.
